Making Waves SOPHIE in Quezon

The last time I brought along a doll during an out of town trip was in 2010, when we went to Batangas. They were my Dynamite Girls Dolls.

I was planning to bring my Liv Making Wave girls on a beach together with the playsets to photograph them, but there's a slim chance that I will be going to a beach soon so I brought Liv Doll Sophie to Quezon Province, instead. It was a very brief photo session since there were other things that I had to do and sort of limited spots (that would suit her) to take photos.

I tried, so here she is:

Okage: Shadow King Figures

I remember having a time when I got so addicted to video games. It was Playstation 2 then, when the RPG games like Resident Evil and Final Fintasy 7 were at their peak. I was in college, then, if my memory serves me right. It's funny remembering now the days when I would play all day, and wouldn't want to go to sleep at all bacause I wanted to know what was next. That was just a phase and good thing I was able to get over it.

I do not have much knowledge about Okage: Shadow King game, which was released in  2001 by Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc. I only knew about it when I bought these figures sometime ago. Apologies, but I wasn't able to list down when I acquired them. I just saw them in a local toy store then and thought they were cute.

They came in heavily dented packaging, probably reason why I got them on sale. Just like most of my toys, they were stored in the attic. It was only about a week ago (May 2013) when I have decided to release them and now they are in a plastic box, being kept all together. It's to save on storage space as well.

I tried selling them through ebay a couple of years back, when they were still unopened but nobody bought them. I am glad they did not sell because lately I am being drawn to gathering little figures from my collection. And besides, these are already considered rare and hard to find. :)

Boppin' Rockers Dolls

These girls are interesting. I have actually almost forgotten that they exist in my collection, until my last visit in the attic. I wasn't able to take their photos while they are still in boxes, but it's alright since their boxes were heavily dented anyway.

They were released in 2002 by Trendmasters Toys. They have bopping heads and supposed to be moving when they're on their stage. I haven't witnessed that, though. As I tried putting some fresh batteries, they didn't move at all after I turned the stage on. It's what I get for keeping electronic toys for a long time.

Cool girls!

I am still thinking whether to keep them or let them go one of these days. I will have to do more research about these girls, then.

The New Flickr

While I was browsing Facebook yesterday, one of my fb friends mentioned how she loves the new Flickr. Out of curiousity, I signed in to my Flickr account to see what she was referring to. And yes I was happy seeing that the website has really improved.

I used to upload photos in my Flickr account, but got tired of it bacause I would get messages that I have only few more to upload or else I would have to delete the ones that are uploaded already. I had several pictures deleted, just to include the ones that I thought were nicer. I refused to pay for additional storage space.

Now that they increased the storage, I may start using my Flickr account again. I just need to find time taking pictures of my dolls. My dream is to be able to photograph all of them. Too bad I sold some of them already. I will still need to dig out the photos I used in ebay, just to remind me that I once had them.

In case you'd like to see it, here's the link of my account: http://www.flickr.com/photos/pastelprism/

I am not the best in maintaining online accounts, but I am definitely trying. :)

BENDOS: 2006 World Cup Germany

The title says it all. Oh yes, I  collected anything I found cute back then. They aren't complete when I got them and I do not have them anymore now as I have already given most of them away about two years ago. Last night I gave away the last two pieces I got. The kids have better plans for them, instead of just being stored in the attic.

It's just nice to be bringing out old photos and smile whenever I realize that I once had them.

Sesame Street @ Work (Kiddie Meal Toys)

This set of Sesame Street figures are from Jollibee's "Jolly Kiddie Meal". I really wish I placed labels of the years when I got my toys in order to give a more accurate descriptions of them.

As you can see in the photos, I have chosen not to open them in order to preserve their quality. I posted them on ebay years ago but if I am not mistaken, they were not sold. They still remain in boxes stored in the attic.

Fireman Bert, Policeman Ernie, Astronaut Zoe, Chef Cookie Monster, Doctor Elmo, Engineer Big Bird

Jollibee toys are not my preference, though, as the quality is not comparable with the ones from McDonald's. Like for these particular pieces, they are made of light plastic material that seems to easily break or cracked if accidentally stepped on. Despite that, they are still cute, aren't they?

So there you have them. They are part of my few collection of Jollibee toys. Most of my kid's meal toys are from McDo.

Barbie Collector's Club Doll

She is a local version version of the Barbie Collector's Club in the Philippines back in early 2000 (I can't remember exactly). I do not have her name as she came in a white generic box. I remember my feeling of disappointment when I first received her because she's far from the dolls that the US Collector Club's giving out to their members.

Lately I learned to appreciate her because of the fact that she's already one of a kind. A doll manufactured in the Philippines and might have not been made available anywhere in the world. So that means that I am one of the few who has her. The store where I submitted my membership back then used to have her displayed in a glass box. I was not interested  in collector dolls then.

In the next few days, I will be finding her for deboxing. Yes, she's been included in the pile of dolls in the attic that remained unsorted. Will post another photo of her once she's out of her box.

Barbie Filipiniana: The Fauna Collection

Barbie dolls used to be manufactured in the Philippines by Richwell Trading. I do not have much background on why they stopped doing so. I'd rather not comment further.

The Fauna Collection was released in 2003 and composed of five dolls in the series. I consider myself lucky being able to snatch all of them. Although I sold some of my Philippine-made Barbie dolls because I wasn't able to complete them, these girls will be staying with me. Until I create a nice storage/display room, they will remain in their boxes.

Betty Spaghetty Dolls

I remember Betty Spaghetty to be an expensive doll when I was younger, yet, she was not my idea of a doll at all. She's far from how Barbie looks like. I actually didn't own one when I was a kid.
Until few years ago, probably in about 2007, I found these sets from a toy store and they were already on sale. I bought them with thoughts of selling them in the future, which I actually tried through ebay.
Only the Slumber Party set got sold and I still have the My Baby Sis, which I do not have any plans of selling anymore. I sometimes regret selling them, but probably by now they have made their new owner happy.
I have a three-year old niece and I would like her to know Betty Spaghetty in the 'flesh', instead of just looking at her in the pictures.

She's released by Ohio Art and defined as a fun-loving teenager or preteen. Her features include robbery hair used to let children make various hairdos and changeable hands, feet, shoes, etc. Introduced in 1998 and targeted at girls ages four and up. - Wikipedia

LIV Making Waves: Katie and Sophie

I got two more Liv dolls and they are the lasts from the store. Although I asked the salesgirl to inform me once they have new deliveries, she said she doubts because their company is just letting go of their last stocks.

Now I am thinking of whether to debox them or not...

More Barbies

I got these girls in 2009 from ebay US. My sister has a friend in California who was so kind to accomodate my purchases and sent them all at once to PH in order to save on shipping cost. They are again products of my shopping spree back then, and I so like all of them!

I decided to sell some of my dolls, and so far the ones from this group are still intact as I don't want to let them go... as of yet.

Collector Barbie Dolls

Another photo from Multiply. Too bad they are totally closing down this month.

Anyway, these dolls were all purchased through ebay US. They're from 3 online sellers and they arrived almost at the same time. I picked them up from the post office around 2010.

This lot made me realize that the habit of importing dolls is not cheap. When I bought them, I thought I got good bargains because of their prices and they were shipped only on USPS First Class. However, when it was time to pick them up from the Post Office, I was charged big time for the taxes (which I can't remember how much anymore).

It was a happy moment for me because it was like a dream come true since I have always wanted to have dolls that can be found at www.barbiecollector.com.

These are the dolls in the pic, from left to right starting above:

* Victorian Barbie with Cedric Bear          2000
* Fire and Ice Barbie                             2001
* Promenade in the Park Barbie              1998
